According to IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal, the league will commence on March 22 in Chennai. Adding to the anticipation, Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of the Chennai Super Kings franchise, revealed that the IPL has planned an inaugural ceremony before the match. Chennai has the honor of hosting this inaugural event as the defending champions.
The IPL is gearing up to release a partial schedule in the coming days, with the full schedule expected to follow after the Election Commission of India announces the General Election dates. Initially, the IPL will announce the program for the first 10-12 days, as mentioned by Dhumal.
The Election Commission is anticipated to announce nationwide polling dates between the second and third week of March, based on which the full IPL schedule will be finalized. Despite this potential clash, Dhumal expressed confidence that the league will not need to be moved out of the country, and there may even be more centers involved than initially planned.
