MI 2023 Playing 11 is expected to get changes as Mumbai Indians had a disappointing season last year. They have let go of their veteran all-rounder, Kieron Pollard but have retained a good set of players and look like a good squad. Here’s a look at strongest Mumbai Indians Playing XI for IPL 2023.
MI 2023 Playing 11
1. Rohit Sharma (captain)
2. Ishan Kishan
3. Suryakumar Yadav
4. Dewald Brevis
5. Tilak Verma
6. Tim David
7. Daniel Sams
8. Jofra Archer
9. Kumar Kartikeya
10. Jasprit Bumrah
11. Hrithik Shokeen
Opening
There is no brainer regarding the opening slot. The skipper, Rohit Sharma, along with the pocket dynamite, Ishan Kishan, will maintain the opening pair.
Middle Order
Suryakumar Yadav is an ideal No. 3 batter to help stabilize the inning in the event of an early setback. Surya’s rise in T20 cricket this year has made him the best T20 player in the world. Baby AB, Brevis, can come in at No. 4. His power-hitting abilities are second to none, and he can be a great asset for the team.
Another young lad, Tilak Verma, was the find of the tournament last season. He has the potential to be a sensible batter who can adjust according to the conditions. Tim David could come in at No.5.
All-rounders
Mumbai Indians do not have any reliable all-rounders since they let go of the Pandya brothers. Daniel Sams is their only option this season.
Spinner
The team has young spinners in the form of Shokeen and Kartikeya. They performed brilliantly last season and will find a place in the XI.
Pacers
Mumbai Indians have the most dangerous deadly duo of Bumrah and Archer in their squad. There is still a question mark over Archer’s availability this season.
Overall, the existing retained team looks good. However, they still require a few players for the lower order. With a low purse amount, Mumbai needs to have a strategy at the auction table to get good players for a low price.
