IPL 2022: IPL Playoffs scenario for each team

The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is slowly reaching its serious phase, where all teams are fighting it out for the coveted top 4 spots. With just 4-5 games left for each team this season, it is time to take out the calculators. What are the chances for each team to make it to the top four? How can each of these teams make it to the top four from now on? Let’s find out answers to all these questions now.

Points required to qualify for IPL 2022 playoffs

Ideally, 16 points is what it takes for a team to book a place in the playoffs in the Indian Premier League. But this always doesn’t hold true. There have been instances before, where teams have qualified with 14 and even 12 points, and there also have been instances where teams have failed to make it to the playoffs with 16 points. But all these are dependent on the net run rate and are uncontrollable until the last match is played. Keeping that aside, and by taking 16 points as a reference let’s see how many wins is required for each team to make to the top four from now on.

Wins required for each team

Gujarat Titans: The table toppers are right now on 16 points and have almost qualified for the playoffs. But a win from their remaining 4 matches will for sure book them a place in the top four.

Lucknow Super Giants: They are right now on 14 points. And would need 1 win at minimum and 2 wins at maximum to book a place in the playoffs.

Rajasthan Royals: They are on 12 points right now and would need a minimum of 2 wins from their remaining 4 matches to make it to the playoffs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore: They are also on 12 points right now and would need 2 wins from their remaining 3 matches to qualify.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: They are on 10 points right now and would need a minimum of 3 wins from their remaining 5 matches to qualify.

Punjab Kings: They are also on 10 points right now and would need a minimum of 3 wins from their remaining 4 matches to qualify.

Delhi Capitals: They are on 8 points right now and would need a minimum of 4 wins from their remaining 5 matches to qualify.

Kolkata Knight Riders: They are also on 8 points right now and would need to win all of their remaining 4 matches to qualify.

Chennai Super Kings: The defending champions have just 6 points right now and have been eliminated from IPL 2022.

Mumbai Indians: They have just 2 points right now and have been eliminated from IPL 2022.
