Anrich Nortje out of IPL 2022: In a major breaking news, Delhi Capitals (DC) premier fast bowler Anrich Nortje is very much likely to be ruled out for the entire 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The South African speedster has missed a lot of competitive cricket in the recent while due to his hip injury. The Delhi Capitals will kickstart their IPL 2022 campaign on 27 March where they will be playing the afternoon encounter against Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
IPL 2022: Anrich Nortje Out of the tournament?
In a massive blow to Delhi Capitals, CSA’s selection convenor, Victor Mpitsang has stated that it will be really difficult for Anrich Nortje to be available for the Indian Premier League 2022 season as he has still not completely recovered from his hip injury. Due to the same injury issue, the South African pacer also missed series against India, New Zealand and is not available for Bangladesh home series as well. Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, Delhi Capitals retained Nortje as their fourth player for a price worth INR 6 Crore.
Anrich Nortje has been one of the mainstay clogs in the Delhi Capitals bowling attack especially in the last two years. He has taken a total of 34 wickets in his 24-match IPL career so far at an impressive economy of less than 8. Apart from Nortje, Delhi Capitals have other pace bowling overseas options in Mustafizur Rahman and Lungi Ngidi available in the squad.

South Africa Players to miss IPL 2022 Start Date
In other major news update, several other star South African players are also likely to miss atleast the first three weeks of IPL 2022 season due to their participation in the home series against Bangladesh. The Proteas are scheduled to host Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series and two Test matches that concludes on 12 April.

Lucknow Super Giants will have the services of Quinton de Kock right from the start of the tournament as he has already retired from Test cricket. However, there is still not clarity on the availability of Kagiso Rabada, Aiden Markram, Lungi Ngidi, Marco Jansen and Rassie van der Dussen.

“The BCCI will be approaching Graeme Smith and check out if some of the top players are available at least a bit earlier. We are hopeful of a solution as we share great rapport with CSA,” a senior BCCI official was quoted as saying by Zee News.
