One of the two new franchises in Lucknow Super Giants have suffered a huge blow as their star pacer Mark Wood was ruled out of the IPL season after suffering a shoulder injury in the test series against West Indies in West Indies. They have now named replacement for the England pacer.
Andrew Tye to fill Mark Wood’s shoes
Andrew Tye, the Australian speedster has been signed as the replacement for Mark Wood by the LSG management. Andrew Tye has played IPL before and as a matter of fact, has won purple cap once while playing for Kings XI Punjab. He lost his rhythm for sometime as his pace dropped down and started bowling a lot of slower balls which failed to deceive the batsmen but has rediscovered himself at the recently concluded Big Bash League where his team Perth Scorchers ended up winning the trophy. He played a vital role in their winning campaign.
He was the highest wicket taker for Perth Scorchers and was quite economical as well. The fact that he remained injury free throughout the season was a massive add on as he is an injury prone player. He bowled at 140s regularly and started hitting the deck along with his slower balls which has made him more lethal just like his old self.

He finished the season as the third leading wicket taker in the competition. It is fair to say that, his wonderful season hasn’t gone unnoticed and has been rewarded with an IPL contract.
Andrew Tye- IPL stats
Andrew Tye made his IPL debut in 2014 for Chennai Super Kings. He then went on to represent three other IPL teams in Gujarat Lions, Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals. He was picked by Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2021 season but he had to pull out of the season due to personal reasons.
