The Indian Premier League 2021 is facing serious trouble due to the rising covid cases in India. In the first week of April, there were many cases reported in the Wankhede stadium, while players like Axar Patel, Daniel Sams, Nitish Rana, and Devdutt Padikkal also tested positive. Although all the players have recovered, the cases in the country have been rising. In a span of 3-4 days, three Australian players, Andrew Tye, Kane Richardson, and Adam Zampa have pulled out of the IPL. While Ravichandran Ashwin became the 1st Indian player to pull out of IPL.

Sourav Ganguly gives update on IPL 2021
Amid rising cases in the country, there have been statements by officials on the IPL 2021. First, Jay Shah, BCCI secretary made a statement that IPL 2021 will go as per schedule. Now the president of BCCI, Sourav Ganguly has made it clear while giving an interview to Sportstar.
“So far, it’s going on as scheduled,” BCCI president Sourav Ganguly told Sportstar on Monday.
The Cricket Australia and England Cricket Board also do not intend to call their players back and have said that they will facilitate the return of the players to their home after the IPL 2021. The official from Cricket Australia was quick to reply as the 3 Australian players pulled out of IPL this week.
“Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers’ Association remain in regular contact with Australian players, coaches, and commentators taking part in the Indian Premier League, which is being conducted under strict bio-security protocols,” they said.”We will continue to listen to feedback from those on the ground in India and the advice of the Australian Government. Our thoughts are with the people of India at this difficult time.” Cricket Australia said.

IPL 2021 Trading Window
The Indian Premier League trading window has opened after the 20th match of this season. It has been confirmed that the Rajasthan Royals franchise has requested some overseas players from other teams for their squad as they are left with only 4 overseas players.
“We have received a request from them a couple of days ago and we have not decided on it. The team management will take a call,” confirmed a CEO from a southern-based franchise to Cricbuzz.
