IPL 2021 Phase 2: There is still a big suspense over the exact details relating to the Indian Premier League (IPL) new schedule for the remaining 31 matches. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already officially announced that the IPL 2021 Phase 2 will take place in the UAE during the September-October window. However, the board is yet to confirm anything about the availability of the foreign players and moreover, there is a big uncertainty on how the remainder of the IPL 2021 season will be completed in the UAE just before the T20 World Cup.

IPL 2021 Phase 2: Sourav Ganguly cancels UAE visit?

According to a recent report mentioned in PTI, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah will not travel to the UAE on Tuesday in order to have discussions with the Emirates Cricket Board about the organisation of IPL 2021 Phase 2. Both the BCCI officials will also be present virtually in Tuesday’s International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting. It is also understood that Sourav Ganguly could leave for UAE to discuss further plans related to IPL on Wednesday.

IPL 2021 New Schedule

While talking about this year’s T20 World Cup, nothing concrete is expected to come after ICC’s meeting on Tuesday as the BCCI will be asking for an extension of time to decide the fate of the tournament. However, the main focus of the meeting for BCCI will be to retain the hosting rights for the T20 World Cup. As per PTI, the ICC is likely to take a final decision during its annual conference which starts on July 18.

IPL New Schedule: IPL 2021 Start Date

According to recent reports, the BCCI is very much eager to resume IPL 2021 possibly from September 17 while the final could be held on October 10 in the UAE. However, the biggest obstacle for BCCI will be the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) which is currently scheduled between August 28-September 19. But the board is likely to have a discussion with Cricket West Indies requesting them to advance the CPL 2021 by a week or 10 days in order to have a clear IPL 2021 starting date.
