PBKS vs MI IPL Stats : Punjab Kings defeated defending champions Mumbai Indians by 9 wickets in the 17th match of IPL 2021 in Chennai and registered their second win of this season and first win after three back to back losses while Mumbai Indians suffered their third loss of this season.

Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to field first on a slow surface of Chennai. Mumbai Indians’ opener Quinton de Kock fell cheaply and then Ishan Kishan also struggled and could score only 6 runs in 17 balls and resultant Mumbai could score only 21 runs in the power play. Captain Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav played some good shots and tried to bring their team back in the game but in the end they too got out and Mumbai couldn’t finish well as they managed only 34 runs in the last 5 overs and eventually finished on 131/6 in 20 overs.
In reply Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul gave good start to their team as they scored 53 runs for the first wicket. Rahul Chahar broke this stand by removing Mayank Agarwal. After that KL Rahul and Chris Gayle built a partnership and both the batters kept batting well and eventually in the 18th over Rahul scored the winning run and thus Punjab won by 9 wickets. KL Rahul scored 60* runs.
