IPL 2021: Jofra Archer likely to miss the tournament

The IPL 2021 will soon begin from 9th March with Mumbai Indians taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore. All the teams have a strong line-up with a good mix of experienced as well as young players. The tournament’s 1st half will be organized behind closed doors. The rising cases ahead of the IPL mean there will be a risk while players will be participating in the tournament. Delhi Capitals have asked for vaccination for the players.

In the other news, there are reports that Rajasthan Royals pace bowler Jofra Archer will skip this year’s IPL for safeguarding his test career. In the test series,  he complained about elbow pain and has been taking injections. The Ashes is scheduled to be played at the end of the year and he needs to be in proper fitness and form.

Jofra Archer likely to Skip IPL 2021

The fast bowler is a regular member of the England team across all the formats. To maintain consistency, he has to maintain proper fitness and if reports are to believed, Archer may not play in this IPL.

I need to take care of my elbow before I think about what is going to happen. For me, in the immediate, I want to get through this [Twenty20] series and then I will do everything in my power to make sure I’m going to the World Cup and the Ashes,” Jofra Archer said about his injury.

Who will be the key players for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021?

If Jofra Archer decides to skip IPL 2021, it will be a huge loss to the Rajasthan Royals. The bowler was the leading wicket-taker for the franchise in IPL 2020.

At the top-order, the team has two Englishmen Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone who have been proven performers in the T20 format. While, the team has Sanju Samson who will captain the side and Ben Stokes as the all-rounder. This year, Chris Morris and Mustafizur Rahman were added to the squad.
