IPL 2021 Auction Time Announced, Franchises Gear Up for Feb 18 Event

IPL 2021 Auction: The much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 edition is just about the corner and the euphoria for one of best T20 leagues contested across the globe is already all over the fans. After a remarkably successful expedition of the celebrated T20 league in the UAE last year, there is still no clarity on the venue for the 14th edition of the IPL. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is trying very hard and the officials are very much sure on hosting the upcoming season of the IPL in India with keeping in mind all the COVID-19 protocols.

IPL 2021 Auction: Star Sports announces the timings
The IPL Player registration closed on February 4, 2021 with a total of 1097 players set to be part of the IPL 2021 Auction which is scheduled to take place on 18th February in Chennai. Star Sports who are official broadcasters of the IPL has announced that the grand one-day auction event will be airing on February 18 at 2:00 PM IST. In the amazing advertisement for the upcoming auction, former Indian cricketers Gautam Gambhir and Irfan Pathan were seen discussing the big list of players who have thrown their hat and the players are also expecting it to be a big auction as there are many star players part of it.

IPL 2021: Players from 15 countries set to take part in the auction
According to the latest reports, players from as many as 15 countries are set to be part of the upcoming IPL 2021 Player Auction. However, only 61 maximum spots are up for the grabs with 22 of them for the overseas cricketers.

Out of the 1097 cricketers registered, 283 are foreign players who will be trying their luck in this year’s event including the likes of Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Dawid Malan, Sheldon Cottrell, Chris Morris, Aaron Finch and many more exciting names. The players’ list includes 207 capped, 863 uncapped and 27 associate cricketers.
