Jofra Archer IPL: In a massive recent development coming in, Rajasthan Royals (RR) premier speedster Jofra Archer has now been ruled out for the entire Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season. Archer was yet to arrive in India for the ongoing edition of the IPL as he was suffering from an injury on his hand and now the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have released an official statement regarding his unavailability for the entire season.
Jofra Archer IPL 2021 stint over?
Jofra Archer reportedly underwent a surgery on his middle finger of his right hand and resumed bowling in the nets just last week. It is also understood that the England fast bowler will be starting his complete training regime from next week and the ECB and Sussex medical teams will be constantly monitoring his progress. However, Archer’s unavailability is a body for the Rajasthan Royals this season as they are already without the duo of Ben Stokes and Liam Livingstone.

“Archer will now step up his training regime starting next week and will be in full training with Sussex. It is expected that he will return to cricket in the next fortnight if he can continue to bowl and prepare pain-free,” said the ECB in its official release.
It is also being understood that both the Rajasthan Royals and Archer came to a mutual decision over his unavailability as the pacer had to serve a mandatory seven day quarantine period before entering the team bio-bubble and that would have interrupted his bowling preparations. Jofra Archer was the Most Valuable Player in the IPL 2020 season played in the UAE where he picked up a total of 20 wickets in 14 matches at an economy of 6.55 for the Rajasthan Royals.

Rajasthan Royals will play their fifth match of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 24.
