Delhi Capitals is one of the teams that everyone wants them to do well because of the exciting prospects that they have in their team. They have suffered an early setback as their Indian reputed fast bowler Ishant Sharma has been sidelined due to an injury that he picked up during the practice session.
The team that is led by the young and energetic Shreyas Iyer had a dramatic turnaround in the previous edition of IPL where they played some ruthless cricket which impressed the cricket fans to a great deal.
Who can replace Ishant Sharma?
Ishant Sharma was excellent in the previous season where he absolutely tied down the batsmen in the power play that allowed Shreyas Iyer to hold back his premium death bowler in Kagiso Rabada for later half of the innings where the South African show cased his magnificent skills by picking 19 wickets at death out of his 25 wickets.
With Ishant Sharma not available for the first game, Delhi Capitals are put into a precarious situation as they don’t have any bowler of Ishant Sharma’s caliber in the bench. Though they can avail the services of Avesh Khan who can provide that raw pace and the experienced campaigner in Mohit Sharma, they might want to try out Anrich Nortje who can hit the deck and provide a new dynamic to their bowling attack.
Can Delhi Capitals start their campaign with a victory?
Delhi Capitals will take on KL Rahul led Kings XI Punjab in their season opener. Both the teams are equally matched on paper and both the teams would want to start their campaign with a victory.
It will be interesting to see the playing combination of Delhi Capitals as they have openers gallore in their team. One of their most important aspect will be to address their lower middle order which is relatively weak when compared to their top and middle order.
All in all, an exciting contest is on cards in Dubai.
