Royal Challengers Bangalore have made some decisions in terms of releasing and retaining players which have got them in trouble earlier. They released KL Rahul and Chris Gayle in 2017 and both the players have since found success with Kings XI Punjab. Ahead of IPL 2020, let’s look the 3 players RCB might regret releasing this season:
1. Marcus Stoinis
Marcus Stoinis was bought by RCB for a whopping 6.2 crore INR. The Australian all-rounder had an average of over 50 last season with the bat but couldn’t produce match-winning scores. His bowling returns were poor as well. It’s a pity that he wasn’t given a proper opportunity at the top of the order for the side.
Stoinis has been opening for the Melbourne Stars in the ongoing Big Bash League and is the highest run-getter of the tournament with over 600 runs in 14 games. Considering his form, RCB might feel they have let go of a good batting all-rounder. Stoinis has been bought by Delhi Capitals for 4.8 Cr INR for the IPL 2020.
2. Shimron Hetmyer
Shimron Hetmyer was bought by RCB at the IPL 2019 auctions for 4.2 Cr INR. It was strong performances on Indian soil which got him an IPL contract but RCB released him after only one season. He didn’t impress with the bat and had played one fifty-plus knock.
This year, Hetmyer was bought by Delhi Capitals for 7.75 Cr INR after his good displayed of form during the India tour in late 2019. He might have been a good choice for RCB to fit in the middle order.
