India’s limited-overs opener Shikhar Dhawan revealed the most special knock he has played so far in his international career. Shikhar Dhawan revealed the same on a live chat session with Shreyas Iyer
Both Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are the integral parts of India’s limited-overs campaign and have been the driving force behind India’s immaculate success.
Shikhar Dhawan was involved in an Instagram live chat session with his fellow countrymen and Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer, where he revealed that the knock he played against Australia in the 2019 World Cup at the Oval is by far one of the best innings he has ever played.
The left-handed opener’s 117 off 109 deliveries helped India mount a daunting total of 352 runs and eventually, they won the match by 36 runs courtesy of a marvelous knock from the southpaw.
He batted with a broken thumb
One of the reasons for rating that knock high on his radar was that he crafted his innings with a broken thumb. He was stuck with a fierce delivery from Mitchell Starc in the third over of the match, but the left-hander continued batting and went on to score a magnificent ton.
Describing the knock he played in odd situations, Dhawan said; “Mardo waali feeling aayi”, which means, ‘ i felt like a man’. However, this turned out to be the last match for Dhawan in the 2019 World Cup after which he was unfortunate to miss the tournament due to a broken thumb.
Talking about India’s display in the 2019 World Cup, the ‘Men in Blue’ went on to top the group stage with a 100% winning rate, but eventually lost to New Zealand in the semi-final.
