Indian Cricket Team is currently taking on Sri Lanka in the three-match ODI series. They displayed a sensational performance in the first game and cliched the game by just 67 runs. The focus now shifts towards the second and third games to be played on 12th January and 15th January in Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram.
India vs Sri Lanka: 3 Changes India can make for IND vs SL 1st ODI
The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka was a near-perfect game for the hosts. But during the fag end of the match, there were areas of concern for them, which they would look to rectify in the next game. With still a day remaining for the second game, let’s take a look at 3 Changes India can make for IND vs SL 2nd ODI:
1. Kuldeep Yadav in place of Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal could also make it for Kuldeep Yadav in the second ODI against Sri Lanka. The leg-spinner has been consistently failing to take wickets and is leaking runs at a fair rate. Clouds are hovering over his place and with Kuldeep continuously performing well when given the opportunity, he can well be ahead of Chahal in the pecking order now. The Haryana spinner although took one wicket but conceded 58 runs. Kuldeep on the other hand has been on top of his game and has been chipping in with the bat as well and therefore could be in line for the second game.
2. Arshdeep Singh in place of Mohammad Shami
Mohammad Shami made a return to the Indian side after recovering from the injury. However, his comeback wasn’t as he would’ve liked. The pacer looked out of sorts and struggled with his line and lengths. He conceded 67 runs in 9 overs and managed just 1 wicket. Therefore the team can look to rest him and play Arshdeep Singh in the second game. The Punjab pacer being a left-arm and death specialist can be a good handy inclusion for India in the second game. Also, Arshdeep has made himself a name with his sensational performances and therefore it’ll be difficult for him to bench him.
3. Washington Sundar in place of Axar Patel
Washington Sundar could well be in line for the second game. The all-rounder has been unlucky to sit on the bench. He has been performing well but due to team combination, he has failed to make the cut in the team. But he can replace Axar Patel in the upcoming game. The southpaw failed to make mark in the first game as didn’t get going with the bat and then failed to pick wickets as well, which was one of the main reasons behind Sri Lanka coming so close. Sunder has been decent in the games he has played and is comparatively a better batter than Axar.
