The Indian cricket team is set to face the very much familiar South African challenge on Sunday (October 30) at Perth Stadium (Optus Stadium, Perth). This will be their third group-stage game of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, in Australia.
The Rohit Sharma-led side has won its first two matches against Pakistan (October 23) and Netherlands (October 27). India are currently placed at the top of the points table after two wins in two games. While South Africa are placed in the second position with one victory and an abandoned game.

It’s a balanced pitch at the Perth Stadium to say, but is better suited for pacers, as most of the Australian pitches do.
Based on the last five T20 games played at the venue, the average first innings score has been around 143, and the average total score varied around 142. 80% of the toss-winning captains opted for bowling first and 60% of the teams won the game, while bowling first.
Until now, 5 T20Is were played here. However, India have never played any T20 International at this particular venue. The South Africa derby will be India’s debut at the Optus Stadium.

Besides, following the Perth derby, India will play Bangladesh (November 2) at Adelaide and Zimbabwe (November 6) at Melbourne.After a disappointing run in the 2021 edition of the tournament, India would not afford a stem back in Australia.
Both teams won their respective last games of the group-stage schedule. India beat the Netherlands, with the help of half-centuries from the skipper Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav.
Earlier, India put on a total of 189 runs for two. In reply, the Dutch batters couldn’t hold on as the highest run-getter for them was Tim Pringle, with 20 runs in his account. India’s pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Arshdeep Singh, and the spinners Axar Patel, and Ravichandran Ashwin captured two wickets each. The all-around performance helped India to win the game by 56 runs.
South Africa, on the other hand, beat Bangladesh in a high-scoring contest in Sydney. Rilee Rossouw’s ton aided his side to score a huge total of 205 for five and get over Bangladesh handily. The Proteas men won the match by 104 runs as Anrich Nortje picked up four wickets.
