India Vs England T20I Series: Pacer T Natarajan May Not Play In The Opener Due To Shoulder And Knee Injury

Natarajan injury : According to the news coming out from the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Indian fast bowler T Natarajan is racing against time to be fit for the T20I series opener against England.

The 29-year-old is undergoing rehab at the NCA in Bengaluru to address the issue on his shoulder and knee respectively and is yet to link up with India’s first-team squad which is currently preparing for the series opener in Ahmedabad.

Natarajan has been named in the Indian T20I squad for the England series and is the only left-arm pacer in the team. According to reports, the NCA has ruled him out until at least March 12, which happened to be the day when the series starts. Considering all the development, it’s highly unlikely that Natarajan gets to play in the series opener.

“He is down with a knee and shoulder injury and is in doubt for the T20I series. Will have to take it one day at a time and it is a race against time,” as per sources.

Natarajan carved out a name for himself in international cricket last year when he led India to the T20 series win over Australia Down Under. The 29-year-old, who also represents Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, emerged as a potent and reliable option, as he picked up six wickets in three T20s in the Australia tour, at an incredible economy rate of only 6.91.

Provided T Natarajan fails to recover in time for the series opener, it’s a big blow for Virat Kohli and the Indian cricket team management. He will not be the only major absentee, as India’s premium bowler Jasprit Bumrah is also unavailable for the T20I series. The Mumbai Indians bowler is going to tie the knot with Sports Anchor / Cricket Presenter Sanjana Ganeshan in the coming days and is unavailable as a result. The T20s are a different ball game altogether. England team has the tools to deliver a hammer blow to India’s hopes of winning the series.
