Ashwin to feature in county match: India’s ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin could take part in a County Championship match against Surrey ahead of the much anticipated five-match Test series versus England. However, Ashwin’s chances of featuring in a county game depends on the timely arrival of his work visa. The upcoming match between Surrey and Somerset is scheduled for July 11.
Ravichandran Ashwin topping the list
The Indian team’s most recent assignment was the WTC Final against New Zealand, which ended in defeat. In spite of the loss in the finals, Ravichandran Aswhin was at the top of the pile in the World Test Championship Wickets Column, as he bagged 71 wickets from 14 Tests.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a request to the English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to have an arrangement for a practice-match before the start of the series on August 4.
Talking about recent meetings, both India and England were involved in four Tests, five T20Is and three ODIs earlier this year. It was Virat Kohli’s men who prevailed as winners across all three formats, as England eye redemption at home soil this time around.
