Ind vs Eng Test Series: England pacer Jofra Archer reckons the Chennai surface is the worst he has ever seen with plenty of rough patches. Archer also said that he was pretty confident of picking the nine remaining wickets of the hosts on Day 5 as the pitch deteriorated.
England registered a thumping 227 runs win over India in the first of the two Tests to be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in the ongoing four-match series. Chasing 420 runs target, the hosts were bowled out for just 192 on the final day of the first Test. India managed to survive just 58.1 overs in the second innings on a deteriorated Chennai pitch.

It was probably the worst surface I’ve seen
“On the fifth day, it was probably the worst surface I’ve seen — its orange color, bits missing, rough patches for the bowlers to aim at. When we walked out in search of nine wickets on the fifth day, I was very hopeful we would complete the job — although these Indian players have big reputations and are at home, so should be able to cope with conditions better than anyone. So, I didn’t expect us to skittle them. Equally, I didn’t expect it to finish not long after afternoon drinks,” Jofra Archer wrote in his column for Daily Mail.
Jofra also termed the win as an “indescribable feeling.”

I know I can perform to the same level again
Commenting on the workload and rotation policy of the visitors, Jofra further said that he is very much confident of performing well in back-to-back Test matches. India vs England’s second Test will be played at the same venue and will start on February 13. England seamer picked just three wickets in the recently concluded first Test but troubled the Indian batsmen with his penetrating pace and unplayable bouncers.
Unlike the previous Test, The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association is allowing 15000 spectators to enter the stadium.
