It has been an exciting contest full of milestones in the ongoing India vs England pink ball day-night Test match at the world’s largest cricket stadium, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India’s experienced off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin became the fourth Indian bowler to record the milestone of 400 Test wickets when he dismissed England pacer Jofra Archer in the second innings of the third Test match. While playing in his 77th Test match, Ashwin leapfrogged leg-spin bowling maestro Anil Kumble to become fastest Indian bowler to pick 400 wickets and also the second fastest overall.

India vs England Pink Ball Test: Ravi Ashwin becomes the second fastest to 400 Test wickets
After the likes of Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh, Ravi Ashwin is now only the fourth Indian to pick 400 wickets in the purest format of the game. Overall, Sri Lanka’s legendary spin bowler Muttiah Muralitharan is the fastest to reach to landmark as he took 72 Tests for the same. The packed crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium hosting its first international game also gave a standing ovation to the 34-year-old on reaching the milestone. Ashwin picked up a total of four wickets in the second innings alongside Axar Patel recording his third consecutive five-wicket haul as England folded for a paltry total of 81 runs.

IND vs ENG: India on the cusp of taking 2-1 lead
Things have moved pretty briskly in this ongoing day-night Test match as the batters from England as well as India have found it really tough to counter the spinners. After India lost a total of 7 wickets in the opening session on Day 2 and got bowled out for 145 runs, England batters once again failed to show any kind of resistance against the Indian spinners and lost their entire 10 wickets in a single session for just 81 runs. Going into the final session on Day 2, India need just 38 runs to win the third Test match and take a 2-1 lead in the four-match Test series.
