Mohammed Shami IND vs AUS: In a crucial news development, India are not playing their senior pace bowler Mohammed Shami for this important third Test match against Australia being played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. India managed to win the first Test match by an innings and 132 runs and then also won the next game by a margin of 6 wickets. The hosts have gained a 2-0 lead in the four-match Test series and also retained the last edition of the Border Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth time in a row.
India vs Australia: Why is Mohammed Shami Not Playing Today’s IND vs AUS 3rd Test?
During the toss, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma stated that they have decided to rest Mohammed Shami for the third Test match against Australia in Indore. Rohit also mentioned that the reason behind this decision is to manage the workload of the senior fast bowler. Shami was part of the India ODI squads during the Sri Lanka and New Zealand home series and then played back-to-back Test matches against Australia which included a brilliant four-wicket haul during the first innings of the second Test match on a surface that had very little help for the pace bowlers. In 62 Test matches, he has taken as many as 223 wickets at an average of 27.05 that includes 6 five-wicket hauls. On the other hand, right-arm pacer Umesh Yadav will have a chance as he has also done really well in home Test matches with a total of 165 wickets from 55 Tests in his career so far.
