The visitors will play under the leadership of Steve Smith as Pat Cummins has returned home due to his mother’s illness. The side will aim to at least level the series against the mighty Indians.
As India vs Australia 3rd Test contest is at the edge, here’s the pitch report and more from Indore.
Indore Pitch Report
Indore Pitch seems like a batting wicket, going by the record at Holkar Cricket Stadium. The overall conditions are better suited for spinners, but late as the game progresses further.
The Indore pitch has been made from the red-brick soil this time. The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) particularly bought the soil from Mumbai. This soil is created from crushed bricks and due to its hardness, the wicket is likely to offer a certain amount of bounce. Hence, the pitch will help pacers early in the match and will aid batters to middle the ball.
However, as always, spinners will dominate the game later in the game, particularly from day 3 and onwards, when the pitch will start to go downhill with roughs created by the pacers.
Based on the last five Tests played at the venue, the average first innings score has been around 354 and the average total score has been around 297. Talking about the toss, almost all of the toss winners opted to bat first. Although, only 50% of the sides have won the games while batting first.
