Things didn’t go the way Australian Cricket Team would’ve wanted in the series against India. They were at the receiving end of an innings and 132-run thrashing in Nagpur and things were even worse for them in Delhi. They for the fourth consecutive time have lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the last two Tests would be extremely crucial for them in the context of the World Test Championship. Australians are known for their comeback and one cannot write them off. Therefore it is expected that they would come out all guns blazing. However, they are expected to dig into the poor areas from the first two games and rectify them in the third game. They are expected to make some changes for the second game and let’s take a look at 3 changes they can make for the upcoming game, which will take place in Indore from 1st to 5th March.
1. Matt Renshaw in place of David Warner
One change that would sure be on the cards is Matt Renshaw replacing David Warner. The opening batter suffered a concussion injury in the second game and didn’t come to bat in the second innings. In his place, Renshaw was drafted into the side. Warner is likely to fly back home and miss the remainder of the series. With him not being available for the series, it is likely that Renshaw will get an extended run in the series. The three innings so far have been horrendous for him and it’ll be an opportunity for him to reclaim his take and score runs for his team. Therefore he can be one change Australia might look to make in the third game in Indore.

2. Cameron Green in place of Peter Handscomb
All-rounder Cameron Green, unfortunately, missed the first two Tests against Australia due to injury. In his place, the team played Peter Handscomb, who looked good in both games but failed to carry on. Green is deemed fit for the third game and with Australia in need of a quality batter and all-rounder, it’s a no-brainer that if he gets a green signal to play he will walk straight into the XI. The all-rounder has been the find for Australia in Test cricket and has contributed equally well for the team with both bat and ball. Green has been a dominant force for Australia as in 18 games he has scored 806 runs with 6 fifties and 23 wickets and it is likely to be one of the changes for the team in the third game.
3. Mitchell Starc in place of Matthew Kuhnemann
Mitchell Starc could also feature for Australia in the third game in Indore. The left-arm pacer missed the first game due to injury and is now deemed fit. Therefore it is expected that he will be back in the team. Australia played just one pacer in Delhi and it’s fair to say that the third spinner couldn’t get going and conceded runs as well. On the other hand, Mitchell Starc has a fair experience with Indian conditions and his reverse swing could be a lethal weapon for Australia. Therefore Starc replacing spinner Matthew Kuhnemann could be among the one changes for Australia in the Indore Test.
