It was a bitter-sweet day for Indian women in the warm-up game against Windies ahead of the World T20. Team India defeated the last year’s champions which is a huge boost for the team but at the same time pace bowler Pooja Vastrakar’s injury has created some worries.
Pooja Vastrakar’s injury a worry for India
Indian pace bowler Pooja Vastrakar got injured while bowling her second over and had to leave the field. She didn’t come back to complete her quota of overs and there is no official update on her injury.
Pooja is one of India’s prominent pacers for the tournament and she made it to the team by replacing Shikha Pandey. Hence, the team management would be hoping that she gets back to bowling soon.
. @BCCIWomen won their first (official) warm up game against the defending champs @windieswomen yesterday, and it looks like Pooja Vastrakar left the field with an injury.. She's a big part of the puzzle going ahead so hopefully it's not too bad.. #WT20

India restrict Windies to 115 runs
Defending champions Windies were provided a good start by opener Hayley Matthews who scored 41 runs off 37 balls. But Indian bowlers prevented the other batters from settling down on the wicket and in the end, Windies could only manage 115 runs in their 20 overs.
Spin bowler Radha Yadav was the pick of the bowlers as she picked two wickets in her four overs and gave away only 13 runs.
In reply India got off to a disastrous start as the experienced campaigner Mithali Raj was out for a duck. But vice-captain Smriti Mandhana steered India home with 32 runs off just 20 balls.
