The legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar has the most test appearances for Indian team with 200 matches. Then the present India coach Rahul Dravid featured in 163 test fixtures, while his partner in the middle order, VVS Laxman played 134 test matches for India. The likes of Anil Kumble and Kapil Dev were the key bowlers of the team, who were the part of 130+ matches as well.

Then, the top order batsmen, Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, and Sourav Ganguly mark their presence with 125, 116, and 113 appearances respectively. The likes of Ishant Sharma, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, and Virat Kohli are the other players, who have been one of the best performers in the 21st century and to play 100 test matches for India.

Virat Kohli Becomes 12th Indian Player to Play 100 Test Matches

Under the leadership of the former test captain Virat Kohli, the Indian team retained top spot in rankings from 2017 to 2021. His astounding stats speaks his volume of contribution to the Indian test team over the years since his debut in 2011.

Virat played his 100th test match against Sri Lanka in the 1st fixture of their home test series at Mohali in March 2022. He has amassed over 8000 runs in test cricket with an average of around 50, with 27 centuries to his name.
