India announce squad for ICC Women’s World Twenty20

BCCI has announced the squad for women’s world T20 which will take place in West Indies in November. There are no major changes in the squad except for the return of Pooja Vastrakar who was out of action due to injury. She will be replacing Shikha Pandey.
India Women’s squad: Harmanpreet Kaur (Capt), Smriti Mandhana (vc), Mithali Raj, Jemimah Rodrigues, Veda Krishnamurthy, Deepti Sharma, Tanya Bhatia (wk), Poonam Yadav, Radha Yadav, Anuja Patil, Ekta Bisht, Hemlata, Mansi Joshi, Pooja Vastrakar, Arundhati Reddy.

Harmanpreet to led the team, Mithali still part of the squad
Legendary cricketer Mithali Raj is also part of India’s squad however the experienced campaigner will not be donning her familiar hat of captaincy. India’s team will be lead by hard-hitting batter Harmanpreet Kaur. The opener Smriti Mandhana will be the vice-captain.
No major changes in the squad
Recently India thrashed Sri Lanka by 4-0 in the five-match series and the team was terrific in all departments. Hence the team management has decided to continue with the same combination for the world T20 a well.
Pooja Vastrakar has returned to the team while Shikha Pandey has been dropped.
In the last World T20 tournament, India failed to make it to the semi-finals but since then the team has improved substantially.

The Indian team was the runners-up in the 50 over world cup which took place in England in 2017 and now the team will be eager to replicate the success in this year’s World T20.
India to take on Pakistan on 11 November in group B in World T2o
India’s team is placed in the group B in World T20 along with Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Ireland.
The Indian team will kickstart their campaign by locking horns against New Zealand on November 09 and then will play arch-rivals Pakistan on November 11.
India then will take on Ireland on November 15 and will play their final match in group B on November 17 against Australia.
