Team India are not playing their senior pace bowler Mohammed Shami in the ongoing tour to West Indies that comprises of 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20I matches. India have already registered a comprehensive innings and 141-run victory against West Indies in the first Test match inside just three days to take a lead of 1-0 in the two-match Test series. The India vs West Indies second and final Test match is scheduled to take place at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
IND vs WI: Why is Mohammed Shami Not Playing West Indies vs India 2nd Test?
The Indian side will once again be taking the field without their premier fast bowler Mohammed Shami in the playing 11 for the WI vs IND 2nd Test match. It looks like that the Indian team management have taken this decision to manage the workload of their senior paceman with the 2023 ODI World Cup scheduled to take place later this year. With Jasprit Bumrah still struggling with fitness issues, Mohammed Shami is highly likely to spearhead the Indian pace bowling attack in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to be played at home later this year.
Despite constant international cricket and participation in IPL 2023, the 32-year-old showcased his prowess by claiming four crucial wickets in the WTC final 2023 against Australia. However, during his absence, the responsibility of leading the fast bowling attack for India against West Indies will fall upon right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj, who will be accompanied by Jaydev Unadkat.
