India would not be disappointed with the end result in the first ODI against West Indies in Port of Spain but they would have liked a victory that would have been a little more convincing than the 3 run victory. They would more likely have to manage with this XI that played the first ODI as their number 1 spin bowling all rounder has sustained a knee injury.
IND vs WI: Ravindra Jadeja to miss the 2nd ODI
Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial role in India’s emphatic victory over England in England in the 3 match ODI series. With India having no turn around time for their series against West Indies that started within a week, the team management decided to rest most of their first choice players which resulted in Ravindra Jadeja becoming the vice captain of the side.
It was expected that Ravindra Jadeja would continue his good form into this series as well but he sustained a knee injury which had ruled him out of the first 2 ODIs. He didn’t play the first game and will miss the second game as well. India do have a like for like replacement in the form of Axar Patel but Ravindra Jadeja is miles ahead of his peers. Nonetheless, it will be another great opportunity for Axar Patel to make an impact in the Indian jersey.
Indian Cricket Team Jersey Numbers
India started off their innings really well in the first ODI but due to a flop show by their lower middle order, they couldn’t bat West Indies out of the game. That’s where they missed the experience of Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja who could have made excellent use of the base laid by the openers.
