Umran Malik IND vs SL: In a massive news update, India’s tearaway fast bowler Umran Malik is not part of the playing XI for the India vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI encounter scheduled to be played at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Umran played a crucial role in helping India beat Sri Lanka 2-1 in the three-match T20I series as the speedster ended as the highest wicket-taker with as many as 7 scalps. India have also won the ODI series after having won both the matches in an amazing fashion against the Lanka side.

During the toss, India skipper Rohit Sharma mentioned that they are not playing speedster Umran Malik for this final ODI against Sri Lanka. Rohit also stated that they have made this decision in order to manage the workload of the young fast bowler. Incidentally, Umran has played all the five white-ball matches against Sri Lanka so far and importantly, he has bowled at a rapid bowling speed while clocking 156 and 155 kmph in the home series. The Jammu & Kashmir pace bowler has taken as many as 5 wickets during these two ODI games against the Lankan side. He is also part of the India squads for the upcoming ODIs and T20I matches against New Zealand at home and thus, he has been rested.
“We will bat first. Looks a good pitch, try to make the most of it. Still a lot of areas we can keep improving, today gives up a chance to perfect those. We want to play close to a perfect game, we’ll never be the perfect game. Hardik and Umran are rested, Washington and Suryakumar are in,” said India captain Rohit Sharma during the toss.
