India’s Sanju Samson hurt his knee while attempting to field a ball near the boundary ropes during the opening T20I match against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After further scans, the specialists have advised the Indian cricketer rest and rehabilitation. Therefore, Samson will now miss the remainder of the two T20I matches against Sri Lanka. On the other hand, India have included debutant Rahul Tripathi in the playing XI for the second T20I against the Lankan side and the Maharashtra local boy has a massive opportunity to showcase his talent and skills at the biggest stage of all.
“Team India wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson has been ruled out of the remainder of the 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. Samson hurt his left knee while attempting to field a ball near the boundary ropes during the 1st T20I at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He was taken for scans and a specialist opinion this afternoon in Mumbai by the BCCI Medical Team and has been advised rest and rehabilitation,” said BCCI in its official press release.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Jitesh Sharma as replacement for Sanju Samson,” the release added.
