Ravi Bishnoi IND vs SL: In an important news development, India’s young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi is not playing the crucial Super 4 clash of Asia Cup 2022 against Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Team India did not witness the best of fortunes recently in the ongoing edition of the T20 tournament as they went on to concede a disappointing 5-wicket defeat at the hands of arch-rivals Pakistan in a closely fought contest. The Men in Blue will be aiming to win both of their remaining two matches against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan to book their spot in the final of Asia Cup 2022.
IND vs SL: Why is Ravi Bishnoi Not Playing Today’s India vs Sri Lanka Match?
After losing his second successive toss and being asked to bat first, India captain Rohit Sharma revealed the big update that Ravi Bishnoi unfortunately misses out from the playing XI in this game against Sri Lanka. While playing a high-pressure IND vs PAK encounter, Bishnoi bowled remarkably well having finished with impressive figures of 1 for 26 that included the big wicket of Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and also bowled a brilliant 18th over in the death. However, Rohit mentioned that while looking at the Sri Lanka playing combination, they have decided to include experienced off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the team ahead of the leggie. This Lankan side has three specialist left-handed batters in the middle-order, Charith Asalanka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Danushka Gunathilaka which is why Ashwin will play a crucial role to counter their threat.
“The pitch doesn’t change much and it only gets better to bat on. This gives us an opportunity to come out and play freely. This is how the World Cup would be played as well, and we have to make sure that we don’t lose too many games. We need to ensure that we are there from the word go. We have to learn a lot when you are defending a score like that. With the dew, we need to learn the lines, the lengths and the boundaries well. The grass is lesser tonight. It looks drier, and we have one change on the basis of the Sri Lankan team: Ashwin comes in for Bishnoi,” said Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
