IND vs SL 1st ODI: India and Sri Lanka are clashing with other in the three-match ODI series. The Rohit Sharma-led side displayed a clinical performance in the first game and have taken a 1-0 lead in the series. They would b eyeing a series win whereas Sri Lanka on the other hand would want to make a comeback.
IND vs SL: Why is Pathum Nissanka Not Playing Today’s India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI?
The second ODI between India and Sri Lanka will take place in Eden Garden on Thursday (12th January. The visitors have won the toss and have decided to bat first in what will the series deciding game for them.
However, they have suffered a blow as Pathum Nissanka was not named in the playing XI for the second game. The right-hander suffered a shoulder injury during the first game and was deemed unfit for the today’s game.
Speaking at toss, skipper Dasun Shanaka, announced the changes in the team. He said “Two changes – Madushanka and Pathum Nissanka out (shoulder injury), Nuwanidu Fernando gets a debut and Lahiru Kumara is back.”
Pathum Nissanka notably, returned to form in the first ODI. The right-hander played a staggering innings of 72 runs and gave his team a fiery start. He was among the reasons why the visitors came close to the target. He stitched a crucial partnerships with his team and made sure that his side remains in hunt. His absence will leave a massive void for Sri Lanka as not only they will miss a quality batter at the top, considering the form of top order, but they would also miss o the field as he has been a fine fielder.
