Ishan Kishan India vs Sri Lanka: In an important news update, Ishan Kishan will once again not be playing the third and final ODI match between hosts India and Sri Lanka at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. India have not made a lot of changes to their team combination in this ODI series against the Lankan side so far. The Men in Blue managed to defeat the visitors by a margin of 4 wickets in the second ODI to take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match ODI series.
IND vs SL: Why is Ishan Kishan Not Playing Today’s India vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI?
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, India’s captain Rohit Sharma stated that they have not changed their top-order batting line-up and this means that Ishan Kishan will once again have to warm the bench. It is very much harsh and disappointing for Ishan to not be part of the India playing XI after having smashed an unbelievable double hundred during his last ODI outing in Bangladesh. However, Rohit had already mentioned before this Sri Lanka home series that Shubman Gill will start as the opener ahead of the left-handed double centurion. Also, Shubman scored an impressive half-century in the first ODI against the Lankan side.
“We will bat first. Looks a good pitch, try to make the most of it. Still a lot of areas we can keep improving, today gives up a chance to perfect those. We want to play close to a perfect game, we’ll never be the perfect game. Hardik and Umran are rested, Washington and Suryakumar are in,” said India captain Rohit Sharma during the toss.

Gill,Rohit and Virat are almost similar style of batsmen. If we want to follow the attacking template in ODIs like England, we would need someone like Suryakumar or Ishan Kishan To Open the innings alongside Rohit Sharma.@bhogleharsha @gauravkapur

No place for double centurian Ishan Kishan, in a dead rubber odi even… ?
Giving opportunity to youngsters will definitely make selection woes in future.. Play safe ??#INDvSL#BCCISelectionCommittee@bhogleharsha— aromalgopi (@go4aromal) January 15, 2023
@ImRo45 feared from @ishankishan51 . He might break Rohit Sharma's 264 run record. That's why Rohit Sharma don't give a chance to Ishan Kishan in ODI. Rohit Sharma don't want to take risks even for a single match. @BCCI @StarSportsIndia #IndvsSL #IshanKishan #RohitSharma?
