Ishan Kishan IND vs SL: The crucial news development from the India camp is that talented wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan is not part of the IND playing XI for the India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI scheduled to be hosted at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Team India managed to take the momentum in their favour as they registered an impressive 67-run victory over Sri Lanka in the 1st ODI game. India now have a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series and a victory in the second ODI will be help them seal the series.

India’s captain Rohit Sharma had already clearly confirmed that Shubman Gill will play as the second opener ahead of Ishan Kishan in this ongoing three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Incidentally, Ishan scored a sensational double century during the third and final ODI match in Bangladesh but unfortunately he will have to be on the bench in the first two ODI games against the Lanka team. In the last match, Gill batted really well having played a fine knock of 70 runs off 60 deliveries that included 11 boundaries and also stitched a brilliant opening partnership of 143 runs with skipper Rohit. It will be interesting to see whether Ishan will get an opportunity during the third ODI against Sri Lanka or not.

“I was in two minds. Wanted to bat first because of how we played last time, but looking at this ground, I wanted to field. Overall, improvements are as a team, nothing in particular. What we’ve done in the past is in the past, we need to look ahead and keep doing better. I love playing here, the crowd is also energetic and that motivates me always. But it is in the past, I need to start fresh.
