Dhananjaya de Silva IND vs SL: The crucial news development from the Sri Lanka camp is that their premier batsman Dhananjaya de Silva is not playing the third and final ODI against India being played at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. After having lost the T20I series earlier, the visiting Sri Lanka team ended up conceding two disappointing losses in both the ODI matches against India in this away tour so far. It will be important for the Lankan team to finish this tour with a big win in the third ODI.

After losing the toss and being asked to bowl first, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka revealed that they have not included senior batsman Dhananjaya de Silva in the playing XI for this third ODI against India. Dhananjaya was dismissed for a golden duck during the second ODI against the Men in Blue but also smashed 47 runs off 40 balls in the opening game of the series. However, the Lankan team management have decided to give an opportunity to right-handed batsman Ashen Bandara for this last game of the tour. Bandara has played as many as 6 ODI matches so far for Sri Lanka where he has scored 141 runs at an average of 35.25.
“Environment here feels very similar to Sri Lanka. We have been good at the start but batsmen haven’t been able to capitalize after that, that’s something we have to improve on. Two changes – Ashen Bandara is in for DDS, and Jeffrey Vandersay in for Dunith Wellalage,” said Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka during the toss.
