India is set to take on Sri Lanka in a 3 match T20I series under the new captain Hardik Pandya. India haven’t lost a T20I series against Sri Lanka at home and Hardik Pandya has task on his hands. The Indian team doesn’t have it’s senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and Mohammad Shami. The aforementioned players are either rested or dropped or missing out due to injuries.
India Playing 11 for IND vs SL 1st T20I
1. Shubman Gill
2. Ishan Kishan
3. Suryakumar Yadav
4. Sanju Samson
5. Hardik Pandya
6. Deepak Hooda
7. Axar Patel
8. Washington Sundar
9. Harshal Patel
10. Yuzvendra Chahal
11. Arshdeep Singh
The former Indian opener and the Mumbai legend Wasim Jaffer has posted his India’s XI in the social media ahead of the first T20I that has ample batting depth in the XI. He also has picked 3 spinners in his XI out of which 2 can contribute with the bat lower down the order as well.
The likes of Washington Sundar and Axar Patel have shown in the past few months that they can hit a long ball and contribute crucial runs in the later stages of the innings. India’s leading leggie Yuzvendra Chahal, who couldn’t find a place in the XI in the world cup still continues to be the #1 choice among experts. He will form a lethal spin trio along with Axar Patel and Washington Sundar according to Wasim Jaffer’s 11.
The pace department lacks raw pace as Wasim Jaffer has backed Harshal Patel ahead of Umran Malik and Shivam Mavi who can bowl in the north of 140s compared to Harshal Patel. The pace attack will be lead by the ever impressive Arshdeep Singh.
If dew comes into picture, India might find it difficult with this XI as they would need Hardik Pandya to bowl as spinners would find it tough to grip the ball.
