The Sri Lanka team have been quite average with their performances in the recent T20I fixtures against Australia and India. But they will soon be playing in the longest format of the game against Indian team. Here is the latest update regarding the test series.
IND vs SL: Sri Lanka SQUAD Announced for India Test Series
In the latest news development, the Sri Lanka Cricket board has announced their test squad to face India. The both teams will be up against each other for a 2-match test series, with 1st fixture starting March 4 at Mohali, and other being scheduled for March 12 at Bengaluru. Here is the 18-member squad announced by the official Twitter account of Sri Lanka Cricket.

Sri Lanka Test Squad: Dimuth Karunaratne(c), Pathum Nissanka, Lahiru Thirimanne, Dhananjaya de Silva(vc), Kusal Mendis(subject to fitness), Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Charith Asalanka, Niroshan Dickwella, Chamika Karunaratne, Ramesh Mendis (still injured), Lahiru Kumara, Suranga Lakmal, Dushmantha Chameera, Vishwa Fernando, Jeffrey Vandersay, Praveen Jayawickrema, Lasith Embuldeniya
Sri Lanka’s last test series was at home soil against West Indies, where they won both the matches and would look to take the confidence into this series as well.
The spinners Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga will not be available for the test series due to injury and covid concerns respectively. This series marks the return of Niroshan Dickwella after he was banned due to breaching bio bubble protocol in England.

The experienced Lahiru Thirimanne is back in the test squad, after getting dropped due to bad form in May 2021. While Angelo Mathews and Lasith Embuldeniya will provide the much needed experience to the test team as well.
IND vs SL: Possible Playing 11 of Sri Lanka for 1st Test
The Sri Lanka team is likely to make 2 changes in the Playing 11, which they last played in a test fixture against West Indies. The top order batsman Oshada Fernando has been dropped, and Lahiru Thirimanne can feature in the 1st Test. While it can be a toss up between Dinesh Chandimal and Niroshan Dickwella for the spot of the wicket keeper.

The spinner Ramesh Mendis, who was the leading wicket taker of the bilateral test series between Sri Lanka and West Indies will not be available for the 1st Test. In place of him, Chamika Karunaratne can play due to his ability to swing the ball, which will be beneficial in Mohali and the team already having 2 spinners in Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama.
