India destroyed Sri Lanka in the first test in Mohali to go 1-Nil up in the 2 match series. India needed that victory badly as they were in the middle of the world test championship table. They have very less breathing space when it comes to this WTC cycle, mainly because of their losses to SA.
Now with the second test set to take place in Bangalore, India are boosted by the return of the Gujarat all rounder who has had a magnificent start to his test career so far.
IND vs SL: Axar Patel replaces Kuldeep Yadav for 2nd test
Kuldeep Yadav has been released from the Indian test squad and Axar Patel has been added to the 18 member squad for the 2nd test which will be a day night affair. This will be the 3rd pink ball test that will be hosted by India. The first test was against Bangladesh in Kolkata and the 2nd one was against England in Ahmedabad.

India have won both the previous day night games in India and won them quite convincingly. Now with Axar Patel coming in, India have no loose ends in the playing 11. India played Jayant Yadav in the XI as neither of Washington Sundar nor Axar Patel were available and they were reluctant to come out of the template of 3 men spin attack.
Axar Patel wrecked havoc England in his debut series in India and then continued his dream run against New Zealand as well. He will form a potent spin attack along with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja which will surely be a nightmare for the Sri Lankan batsmen.
