IND vs SA: After being 1-0 down in the series, India made a staggering comeback in the second game that took place in Ranchi on Sunday (9th October). The Shikhar Dhawan-led side produced a superlative effort with both bat and ball to clinch the match by 7 wickets and level the three-match series 1-1.

Asked to bowl first, India had a a great start to the game as they removed both the South African openers Quinton de Kock (5) and Janneman Malan (25) for just 40 runs. However, after that Reeza Hendricks (74) and Aiden Markram (79) brought their side back to the game.

They made Indian bowlers look clueless before Heinrich Klaasen (30) and David Miller (35*) provided the finishing touches for their side. India were decent with the death bowling as Mohammed Siraj returned with the figures of 3/38 to restrict the opposition to the total of 278, which at one moment seemed that it would go past 300 runs.
Chasing the target, Indian had a good start but openers Shikhar Dhawan (13) and Shubman Gill (28) failed to convert their starts and left their side tumbling at 48/2. However, after that it was Ishan Kishan (93) and Shreyas Iyer’s show (113*) who took South African pacers to cleaners and showed great maturity.
After Kishan went back in the hut, Iyer continued his carnage on the Proteas pacer and reached his second century in ODIs. He along with Sanju Samson (30*) then finished the game for his side and levelled the series 1-1.

Indian batter Shreyas Iyer was awarded Man of the Match in the second ODI against South Africa. The right-hander played a sensational knock of unbeaten 113 runs and helped his side win the the game with 7 wickets. Iyer came to bat when India were tumbling at 48/2. He played according to the situation and took calculated risks. His innings was laced with 15 fours.
