IND vs PAK: Why is Rishabh Pant Not Playing Today?

Rishabh Pant IND vs PAK: In a massive breaking news update, India’s swashbuckling wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant is not playing the high octane India vs Pakistan clash of Asia Cup 2022 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. This will be the opening game between these two sides after Pakistan’s convincing 10-wicket victory over India during the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup.
IND vs PAK: Why is Rishabh Pant Not Playing Today?
After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, India captain Rohit Sharma gave the big news that Rishabh Pant is unfortunately not part of the playing 11 for this important game against Pakistan. This comes as a huge surprise as Indian team management have decided to play the experienced Dinesh Karthik as the wicket-keeper batsman ahead of Pant who did well in the last T20I series against West Indies. However, Karthik has played some really impressive T20I knocks since his recent return to international cricket and that might have tempted his selection in the playing 11. It was also reported that Dinesh was hitting some huge sixes at the eve of the India vs Pakistan match.
“Honestly, I don’t think the toss is that important, we are just here to play good cricket. We’ve played here in the IPL, so hopefully the pitch will be good. It was a tough call we had to take between playing Dinesh and Rishabh, Rishabh sadly misses out. And Avesh makes it as the third seamer. This is an important game for us, but as cricketers we don’t want to think about the opposition, we just want to correct whatever mistakes we are doing. We are bowling first,” said Indian captain Rohit Sharma during the toss.
