Dinesh Karthik IND vs PAK: In a massive breaking news development, India’s senior wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik unfortunately misses out on selection in this important Super 4 clash of Asia Cup 2022 against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. It was a nail-biting thriller which went down the wire when both these teams met last in the ongoing edition of the T20 competition as India emerged victorious on the back of a superb all-round performance from Hardik Pandya.
IND vs PAK: Why is Dinesh Karthik Not Playing Today?
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Indian captain Rohit Sharma mentioned that Dinesh Karthik is not part of the playing 11 for this match against Pakistan. With Ravindra Jadeja getting ruled out of the remainder of the T20 competition, India desperately needed a left-handed batsman in the middle-order to counter the Pakistani spinners and this is why Rishabh Pant has been selected ahead of Karthik as a tactical change. On the other hand, the Men in Blue have also included the duo of Deepak Hooda and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi in the side.
“We would have bowled first, but now we need to play freely and assess a good score on this pitch. Momentum counts in this format, you’ve to be on the money from the start, not worry about external pressures. Injury is something we can’t control, Jadeja has been ruled out and he’s back home. It was a headache to select the playing XI – Hardik comes back. Deepak Hooda gets a game and so does Ravi Bishnoi,” said India captain Rohit Sharma at the toss.
