One of the oldest rivalries in cricket is India vs Pakistan games. The emotions and the intensity that runs through the matches is unmatchable. The sad part is that India and Pakistan never faced in a bilateral series since 2012. India have dominated the Pakistan cricket team in all the ICC tournaments but it’s the Pakistanis who holds the edge over the Indians as far as bilateral tournaments are concerned
India vs Pakistan game will be bigger than Ashes- Shahid Afridi
The swashbuckling all-rounder from Pakistan Shahid Afridi who has been doing lots of social welfare activities through his foundation post retirement has suggested that both the Indian and the Pakistani government should come together and have a talk about the resumption of the bilateral series. He also added that the India vs Pakistan series will be even bigger than the Ashes which is considered as the biggest bilateral series of all.
I think, if India and Pakistan were to have a series, it will be something bigger than the Ashes. However, we don’t seem to get it. We are letting politics get in the way of people’s love for this sport and their wish to come together. I think we need to put a few things behind us as well and so does India. We need to sit down together at a table and talk things out
Yuvraj recalls his playing days against Pakistan
The world cup winning member Yuvraj Singh was also seen nostalgic when he spoke about his playing days against the Pakistanis in their home. The southpaw who retired from international cricket has been playing club cricket around the world. He also participated in the recently concluded bashfire league said that the bilateral series should be played between the arch rivals.
I remember playing against Pakistan in 2004, 2006 and 2008 in bilateral series. These days yeah, there has not been enough of that. But these things are not in our hands.
We play cricket for the love of the sport. We cannot choose which country to play against ourselves. But what I can say is that the more India v Pakistan cricket there is, the better it is for the sport
