Yuzvendra Chahal IND vs NZ: The important news from the Indian camp is that they are not playing their premier leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in the opening ODI game against New Zealand being played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. India defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 in the recently concluded three-match ODI series at home. The Men in Blue are now scheduled to play as many as three ODI and 3 T20I matches against New Zealand at home.
IND vs NZ: Why is Yuzvendra Chahal Not Playing Today’s India vs New Zealand 1st ODI?Â
During the recently concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka, right-arm leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was not available for selection in the second game due to a sore right shoulder and that allowed left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav to get a spot in the side. Kuldeep ended up delivering a sensational Man of the Match performance where he registered impressive figures of 3 for 51 from his quota of 10 overs and he also bowled very well in the third and final ODI against the Lankan side. This is why the Indian team management have decided to go ahead with Kuldeep Yadav as their frontline leg-spinner in the first ODI against New Zealand on Wednesday.
Chahal has taken a total of 119 wickets from 71 ODI games so far at an economy of less than 6 while Kuldeep Yadav has picked up as many as 124 ODI wickets from 75 matches at an economy of 5.18.
