IND vs NZ: Predicted India Squad for India vs New Zealand T20I Series. Who will be India Captain?

The Indian home season has begun. The Men in Blue will take on New Zealand in the white-ball series. After the three-match ODI series, the team will lock horns in the three-T20I as well. The first game will be played on 27th January in Ranchi followed by second and third games to be played on 29th January and 1st February in Lucknow and Ahmedabad respectively.

The T20I series between India and Sri Lanka saw the hosts playing an inexperienced young side. However they did rise to the occasion and played staggering well to win the series by the margin of 2-1. It is expected that along with them seniors will back in the mix for the series.

Rohit Sharma will be back as a skipper and will be there as opener in the team alongside Ishan Kishan, who will also be the keeper, and Shubman Gill, who did a decent job in the T20I series against Sri Lanka. Virat Kohli is also expected to back whereas Rahul Tripathi will be his backup at No.3

Suryakumar Yadav, who has been in the staggering form, is likely to form the middle order with Deepak Hooda, Sanju Samson and Hardik Pandya, who will also be the vice-captain of the team. Axar Patel and Washington Sundar are expected to be two spin bowling all-rounders in the side with Yuzvendra Chahal, who is likely to retain his place in the team despite poor performances of late.The young pace battery of Shivam Mavi, Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik and Harshal Patel are expected to be the frontline pacers in the side.

KL Rahul is rumoured to get married in the later half of the January and it is expected that he won’t be part of the series against New Zealand. Whereas team wouldn’t want to risk Jasprit Bumrah and rest him in the T20Is considering the ODI World Cup this year. The pacer is coming fresh off the injury and is only expected to play 50-over format for sometime. With the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Rahul Tripathi and. Deepak Hooda in the mix, it would be difficult for Shreyas Iyer to make cut into the T20I side.
