IND vs NZ 1st Test Day 5: Kanpur Weather Today, Chance of Rain on 29 November

IND vs NZ: The Kanpur Test is beautifully poised heading into the final day. India are slightly ahead at this point but the Kiwis can eke out a draw if they bat well. Why with a few solid partnerships, they can get into a position to win this game as well.

New Zealand: 269 and 4/1 in 4 overs.

In the dying minutes of Day 4, Ravichandran Ashwin got the decisive breakthrough, dismissing Will Young early to put India in charge of the Kanpur Test. India had previously declared their second innings on 234/7, setting a target of 284 for the Black Caps to win the game. It was a great achievement considering they were reduced to 51/5 earlier in the first session. The lower order once again came to the rescue for the hosts.

Wriddhiman Saha batted brilliantly despite a stiff neck to finish unbeaten on 61. Shreyas Iyer made his debut even more memorable with a 65. Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel also contributed significantly to India’s total. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara’s struggles with the bat continued.

Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson produced another masterclass of pace bowling on Indian wickets. However, they had little help from the spinners. Though there was turn on offer with the odd ball keeping low, Patel and Somerville did little to unsettle the Indian batsmen.
