IND vs ENG T20I Series: Who will score most runs for each side?

After an exciting India vs England Test series where the hosts registered a thumping 3-1 series win, India and England are all set to lock horns in a five-match T20I series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad starting with the first T20I on March 12. It will be a great opportunity for both these teams to channelize their strategies and planning in these conditions ahead of the all-important ICC T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in India later this year.

It is expected to be a thrilling and spectacular series between two quality sides with England currently the number one ranked T20 team and India occupying the third position. There are some sensational talented players who will be given opportunities in the upcoming T20I series and thus, they will be keen to showcase their potential at this level.

Here are some players who can score most runs for their side in the T20I series:

1. Rohit Sharma

India’s senior opener Rohit Sharma will be coming into the IND vs ENG T20I series on the back of a brilliant performance in the Test series. In the recently concluded five-match Test series, Rohit was India’s leading run-scorer having notched up 345 runs at an average of 57.50. Rohit Sharma has a fantastic T20I record with 2773 runs in 108 T20Is that includes 21 fifties and 4 hundreds. If India are to win this series, the Indian vice-captain will have bat extremely well against a quality England T20I side.

2. KL Rahul

KL Rahul has not played competitive cricket since T20I series against Australia in 2020, however, the right-hander has been the most impactful T20 player for India in the last two years. Rahul was the highest run-getter in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 season with 670 runs from 14 matches at an average of 55.83. Rahul is likely to be relieved from the wicket-keeping duties and thus, he will have the chance to score the most runs for India in this T20I series as he will play all the five matches.

3. Dawid Malan

England’s Dawid Malan is currently the No.1 ranked T20I batsman with a total of 915 points in his kitty. The left-hander has batting sensationally well for England in the shortest format in the recent games. In 19 T20Is, Malan has scored 855 runs at an impressive average of 53.44 alongwith an explosive strike-rate of 149.48. Malan will surely be the frontrunner for ending up as the highest run-scorer for England and overall in the upcoming England vs India T20I series.

4. Jos Buttler

England’s wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler has been the powerhouse of the batting line-up since he has started to open the batting in T20Is. In 74 T20Is, Buttler has notched up 1551 runs at a strike-rate of 140.36 that includes 10 fifties. The right-hander also has a great experience of batting in the Indian conditions as he has been excellent for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the recent few years. With his explosive ability to tonk the ball on regular basis, Buttler will be a strong candidate to finish as the leading run-getter in the upcoming T20I series.
