The fourth Test match of the five-Test series grabbed the attention of every cricket fan. With the series evenly poised at 1-1, both the teams matched each other blow for blow in the fourth Test match but in the end, the Virat Kohli-led side turned out to be better of the two sides and took an inaccessible lead of 1-2 in the series with one game to go.
Twitterati erupts in joy as India registers a 157 run victory in the fourth Test match.
The fourth Test match between England and India at The Oval cricket ground was at its thrilling best. Asked to bat first, Team India didn’t have the greatest of first innings. Even though skipper Virat Kohli and Shardul Thakur notched up half-centuries, the visitors managed only 191 runs in the first innings.

With the ball, the Indian bowlers were spot on and put English batsmen under tremendous pressure as half of their side was back in the dressing room for just 65 runs. However, Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow joined hands together and bailed the hosts out of trouble. Crucial contributions from lower-order including a half-century by Chris Woakes helped the Joe Root-led take a lead of 99 runs.
Team Indian then displayed a sensational batting display in the second essay and on account of Rohit Sharma’s first overseas century and half-centuries by Shardul Thakur and Rishabh Pant posted a mammoth target of 368 runs to chase. Chasing the target, English openers gave their team a perfect start and just when it seemed that India’s chances of winning the match are decreasing, Indian bowlers once again took the challenge to themselves and came out all guns blazing to bowl out England for 210 runs to bag an emphatic victory of 157 runs and take a lead of 1-2 in the series.

IND vs ENG Live: What Virat Kohli said after the win?
The Indian skipper Virat Kohli has lauded the fight shown by his boys and said that they had the belief that they could take all the 10 wickets.
I think the best thing about both the games has been the character the team has showed. We are not looking to survive in this game, we are here to win. Really proud of the character the team has showed. I said at Lord’s as well, I am proud of the character among the top three bowling performances I have witnessed as India captain. It’s quite relative what you call flat. The conditions were hot and we knew were in with an opportunity when Jadeja was bowling into the rough. The bowlers were good with the reverse swing today. We believed we could get all 10 wickets, we had the belief.
