India Playing 11: Team India carried on their momentum from the T20I series, to secure a big win in the first ODI versus England. The Men in Blue posted a target of 318, with Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya all getting past their fifties. In return it seemed like England will run away with the game, with their openers Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy getting off to a ballistic start.
The opening duo powered their way to 134 from 14 overs before Roy departed for 46 from 35. Jonny Bairstow too walked back to the dressing room after being dismissed for 94 from 66 deliveries. That’s where the floodgates opened for the Indians as they bundled out England for 251 in 42 overs to everyone’s surprise. Debutant Prasidh Krishna, Shardul Thakur and Bhuvneshwar Kumar impressed in their latter spells to restrict a quality England batting unit.

England will be gutted with that outcome and might go for a few tweaks or a change in approach. As for Team India, they were likely to go with a similar playing eleven, but a few injury concerns might make them opt for change in personnel.
Specialist opener Rohit Sharma was struck on the arm by Mark Wood and wasn’t seen on the field on the second innings, whereas, Sherayas Iyer sustained a shoulder strain while trying to stop a boundary. It would be interesting to see how the team shapes up, as there are quality replacements available as well.
