The visiting England team has surely been topnotch and without much of doubt, the Joe Root-led side has overshadowed this Indian team in all the three departments in their own conditions atleast in the first innings. Since calling it right at the toss, England have surely come out as the better team in this first IND vs ENG Test match so far as they first put on masterclass effort with the bat by posting a mammoth first innings total of 578 runs where captain Joe Root led from the front and racked up his second double hundred in three successive Tests.
The England bowling attack was in a lot of talks in the recent days for their inexperienced spinners in Dominic Bess and Jack Leach. However, Bess surely bowled really well upfront to pick up the prized scalps of Indian captain Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant after which some luck also went in the off-spinner’s favour and he finished with a total of four wickets to his name.

Ben Stokes takes an absolute blinder in slips
India were bowled out for 337 runs in the first innings and undoubtedly, the English team has been phenomenal in the field. England all-rounder Ben Stokes took an absolute stunning one-handed catch in the slips to dismiss Jasprit Bumrah which was eventually India’s final wicket to fall in the first innings. Unfortunately, Washington Sundar who batted really well during his brilliant unbeaten knock of 85 runs was left stranded on the other end as the southpaw ran out of partners. With Stokes’ amazing catch, James Anderson finished with two wickets to his name and handed England a big first innings lead of 241 runs.

How much more will England look to bat?
England are currently 58 for 3 in the second innings and they have a massive lead of 299 runs in their kitty. The experienced pair of skipper Joe Root and Ben Stokes are at the crease and visitors will surely be looking to pile on the runs possibly somewhere close to a target of 400-450 before asking India to bat later on Day 4. England will also be vary of India’s brave and courageous heroics in Australia especially in the third and fourth Test matches.
