IND vs ENG Day 5 of 1st Test: The Virat Kohli-led Indian team have been rattled in the first India vs England Test match in Chennai. The visiting England team have registered a sensational 227-run win over the hosts on Day 5 courtesy some superb bowling from the duo of James Anderson and Jack Leach in pretty helpful conditions on offer. India were required a total of 381 runs on Day 5 with 9 wickets in hand and it was expected to be a monumental task as the wicket was continuously deteriorating to a large extent.
India started Day 5 with both Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill looking very much comfortable on the crease until the former was undone by a beautiful delivery from England left-arm spinner Jack Leach. England’s legendary pacer Jimmy Anderson then produced a fantastic spell to castle both Gill, Ajinkya Rahane and then also dismissed Rishabh Pant to claim three wickets in no time and leave the hosts in a big trouble.

India vs England: Stokes castles Kohli
After losing six wickets in the first session, the Indian fans were hoping that captain Virat Kohli will do something special to help his team save this Test match. The right-hander was looking quite comfortable at the crease after having notched a remarkable fifty, however, England all-rounder Ben Stokes then bowled an absolute ripper of a delivery to shatter Kohli’s stumps and eventually, drilled the final nail in the coffin. Kohli got out for 72 runs, missing out on yet another possible century and after his dismissal, the England bowlers quickly wrapped up the Indian innings to claim a massive win.

IND vs ENG: Will India be able to make a comeback?
After a memorable series win Down Under, India were surely considered as the overwhelming favourites for this home series against England. However, the visiting England has surprisingly taken a 1-0 lead, but the Joe Root-led side totally deserved this win after an impressive performance in all the three departments. The big question will now remain that will India be able to make a comeback in the second Test match scheduled to start from February 13 in Chennai.
